Meet the Owner

Sharon's first love has been of animals wild and domestic ever since her family took in a Pomeranian named "Lucy" from a friend who had been sick often and would leave the dog with them. When the owner died, Sharon and her family had fallen in love with this little dog who never knew how to bark and "guard the house" until a short time later. That was forty some years ago.

The love of animals has not diminished over the years; rescuing box and snapping turtles from getting killed on the road, rescuing an opossum from a neighbor's dog, caring for and releasing robins, and even being brave enough to hold a skunk that still has its scent sack intact. Now that's brave!

Sharon has a cat named Smudge, who is a white domestic short hair with a blue eye and and green eye, that was adopted 2004. A sweet and cuddly boy, he will greet you outside when you come into the driveway and will go in and out of the house all day.

Another member of the family is a Mohogany Sable Sheltie, Casey, who was adopted from the South Carolina Sheltie Rescue in Columbia January, 2005. He and Sharon go to Dog Agility trials. Casey is very intelligent winning his Master Agility Jumper title in 2009 and winning his Rally Excellent Title. He also won his Master Agility title in 2010. As a pet and companion, one can't get much better then Casey.

Blueberry is Sharon's second cat and third member of the family, who stays indoors and wandered into her yard as a kitten in 2006. "Blue" is a long-haired calico and seems to enjoy jumping on and attacking everyone; she is sweet when she decides to lick you and can be cuddly.

Meadowmorn's Animated Comic or Balloo, a sable sheltie, is the most recent member of the family and also does agility. He came as an 8 week old puppy in 2008. Balloo officially started agility this year (2010) and is already in the Excellent classes. Balloo is lots of fun to train and his "mom" needs to get into better shape if she is going to keep up with him. He can be "ornery", but is sweet and loving and is so enthusiastic about learning new things.

Sharon started her business in 1994. Since then, Canines N' Cats Pet Sitting Service has been steadily growing each year, with continuing success in customer satisfaction. She joined Pet Sitters International (PSI) in 1995. PSI offers conferences where she goes to network and gets continuing education on the pet sitting industry.

Sharon is certified in pet first aide and has taken courses to become an animal care specialist. Also, she is an Emergency Animal Rescue Volunteer for EARS of the United Animal Nations Organization.
